A very rare and fine silver plated oil lamp with miniature duplex burners and shade support galleries. The heads depicted on the lamp are of the roman god Janus and have been cast in fine detail. Janus was a Roman god who represented the beginning and the end hence the two heads. The month of January takes its name from him.
The base and stem have a floral design impressed on them. The silver plate is in very good condition with no base metal showing apart from some around the burner collars. The lamp is approx 12inches in height, it is in excellent condition and if anyone who is lucky enough to have two chimneys and matching shades to fit, it would make a very rare item indeed. The item "Victorian Silver Plated Double Burner Oil Lamp" is in sale since Saturday, September 15, 2018.
