1st - 3rd Century Roman Bronze Snake Oil Lamp / Vessel. This is an extraordinary, genuine, Roman bronze lamp or vessel, 1st - 3rd century A. This design is I believe unique & easily the best Roman bronze I have seen for a very long time. It measures 7 inches in diameter. In the form of a scaled snake, coiled to form a handle & wrapped around the rim of the bowl.

The bowl has a flower petal design to the interior with feathered arrow. The center, the piece stands on a raised foot rim. CONDITION The center of the bowl is holed, there are 2 further small additional holes - as per images.

The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
