The oil tank has been reset with plaster since some of the original plaster had fallen away. The burner is a duplex P&A which has been lightly electrified. The gallery part of the burner has crack in the brass that has been repaired and a couple damaged prongs. The rest of the burner looks to be in good shape with the stuffers functioning well. The lamp has a 3 position touch switch installed in the oil tank so the lamp is turned on and off by touching the exterior of the lamp base.
This lamp does not come up for sale very often, one does see the Cockatoo version but rarely the Owl. The shade is a spectacular Victorian heavily enameled cranberry glass globe featuring leaves, flowers and butterflys.
The shade is 6 1/2 inches in diameter with a ground top and bottom fitter with the normal nicks roughness from manufacture. The fitter is 4 inches. The shade is in very good condition for its age with minor enamel loss. The shade is by far the nicest example I have ever seen and blends with the lamp perfectly. The lamp base is 8 1/2 inches wide - 10 1/2 inches to top of collar.
Overall height is 21 inches to top of chimney. The burner has wonderful patina. The condition of the lamp is very good for its age. You wont be disappointed with lamp especially the incredible shade.
