Pair of Antique TWILIGHT Glass Candle Lamps Burn Oil w BEADED ART NOUVEAU Shades. Here is a gorgeous old pair of antique milk glass candles that were designed to burn oil or kerosene, so they are actually small lamps that work by way of wicks, as would little oil lamps. They probably had glass chimneys as well, but those are missing. They do still have the beautiful Victorian or Art Nouveau pierced metal shades with the shade inserts. The inserts are placed on a circular holder or halo that is built onto the glass candlestick lamp.
The inserts go under the pierced metal shades. Both inserts have bead fringe dripping off the bottom edge. They are lined with another material that may be something like Isenglass. Each shade insert measures about 5.5 inches long from the top of the shade to the bottom of the beads. The pierced metal shades are 3.5 inches high, with a 2 inch opening at the top and about a 5.25 inch opening at the bottom.
The turner knob for the wick is marked H. The metal halos where the shades sit are also marked TWILIGHT Patented. The glass candle lamps and shades are in reproduction candle holders by Godinger. If you don't want the holders, just let us know. They are silver plate candle holders that are reproductions of a gorgeous antique grape pattern.
They even applied some black to the swirls on the base to add to the antique style. The bottom protectors are a bit worn, otherwise very good condition. As shown in the Godinger holders the overall height is about 16.
We did not try to light these or even take them apart as we are unsure as how to correctly open them. We don't see any damage to the milk glass candles. I can see wicks in both. Please review the photos, as always they are the best description. You can always meet us for local pick-up and we can deliver to some areas.
