HOLDING FOR shemalg77 FRENCH ALABASTER &GRADUATED ENAMELLED OIL LAMP

This listing is for the COMPLETE LAMP with the exception of the shade. The shade is NOT part of this listing. Overall this lamp is in excellent condition with little or no signs of wear or use. It does have an occasional manufacturers irregularity/inclusion which is to be expected. As seems to be typical of French enamelled founts varying light affects the pink shades more so than in founts out of the UK or the US.

In some light natural, bright white etc. This fount is pink in other light it takes on more of a cerise shade and at times it can throw a rusty hue. The pale green at the bottom of this fount is affected negligibly throughout the light spectrum.

The enamelling is complete and intact with no signs of wear or thinning. This is unusual for a lamp of this age as cleaning tends to degrade the enamel. The threaded under-mount and collar are damage and fault free. This collar will take the European burner supplied but will also take an English duplex/double wick burner if preferred. Swapping out the burner allows for a wider range of options if you wish to add a shade. The chimney is hand blown and cut with the bottom being a little out of square. By rotating this in the supplied burner you will find a level. It is exceptionally fine green glass and has the usual chips/fleabites as well as a very small crack which runs parallel to the fitter.

It is full of air bubbles and manufacturing marks. If you prefer a clear/uncoloured chimney please let me and if I have a suitable replacement at the time I will swap it over. The majority of the base is spelter and has been painted. The green in the alabaster column is very close in colour to the bottom of the fount and the chimney. Depending on your preferences it is easy to rotate the column to show either all green or part or all of the rust coloured section.

The column still has a very good gloss finish and is smooth and fault free. H 610 mm 24 (top of chimney). 340 mm 13 3/8 (top of collar). W 160 mm 6 1/4 (base square). 190 mm 7 1/2 (base diagonal).
