French Apple Green Optic Glass With Ornate Spelter Base Kerosene Oil Lamp

FRENCH APPLE GREEN OPTIC GLASS. This listing is for the COMPLETE LAMP which is in very good condition. The base was originally nickel plated but the plating had worn to such an extent that it was not salvageable. It now has a gold finish which, if not to your liking, can be repainted. All components, spelter and otherwise, are in excellent condition - no splits cracks dints or chips. The components are not all original to this base as the marble column was damaged so if you are a purist this lamp may not be for you. This base has been completely stripped and refurbished. The font shows some signs of wear. This is mainly to the top surface by way of uneven finish/scuffing with one small line which travels over the top edge and onto the side. There is one extremely fine scratch which I struggled to find after becoming aware of it when editing the last photo. It also has the usual bubbles and inclusions associated with glass of this age.

Due to the texture of the fount most of these are difficult or near impossible to see. The original nickel collar has been replaced with brass. The burner is fully functional and in excellent condition.

This will take a size appropriate European shade or a shade gallery can be added. Because of the size of this burner the collar will take a British Duplex/double wick burner if this is your preference. I have not polished this burner as, in my opinion, it is ties in better with the base if left like this.

Being solid brass it can be polished if this is your preference. The chimney is early vintage and immaculate with no chips, cracks or scratches. H 660mm 26 (with chimney).

350mm 13 3/4 (top of collar). W 140mm 5 1/2 (base square). Please view the photos carefully as they form a major part of the description. The photos of the fount on its own were taken prior to the collar being swapped over.

Items which need extra attention/care antiques, glass, delicate/fragile etc. I use recycled packaging as much as possible. As more times than not it is cheaper to use a courier than Australia Post. The latest restrictions have thrown the option, for some buyers, to collect items into question and chaos as the Macedon Ranges Shire is presently outside the restricted zone.
