This is a rare antique Victorian oil GWTW lamp with original art glass lion globe shade in Ruby, red satin glass. The lamp is 22.5 inches tall without the chimney.
The globe is approximately 10" x 10", the chimney is 12 inches in length and 3 1/2 inches wide at the middle. The lamp weight is 3725 g or 8.2 pounds.The glass globe is decorated with a blown out lion's head motif. There are four Lion-heads in both upper and lower globe. The color is Ruby red with fine satin finish. The upper and lower globe match well. The lamp is in very good condition however, there are two areas of the upper globe which show flaws.
There are two very small chips at the lower opening and also there is an area that the red finish did not cover. On the lower globe there are areas of?? I did not try to clean it only wiping with microfiber cloth. Please see the photographs, the last picture. These are not very visible, but they are there. The base of the lamp, and also the inner chamber of the lamp are made of steel please see pictures of the white magnets sticking on the base and the inner container(picture number 4). The ring, the heat ring are not steel and they are in fair condition. This antique lion lamp is rare, impressive and so beautiful.I do not know if there was any attempt to electrify it or not, please see all the details in the photos.
