Antique Police Dietz Xmas Tree Bullseye Flashlight Oil Lantern w/ Shutter Lever. Measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long by 6 inches wide by 8 inches tall. Both the interior and exterior have vintage age from use, but it is still solid. It has a hinged door with a clasp to lock it in place. It appears to be sturdy as well, and the door locks tightly in place.
The glass is a beautiful piece, in good shape. It has one tiny nip, see photos, but no other major damage, just light wear. It still shines brightly and as intended with a light inside.
I have used a color-changing tea light for an interesting display effect. The handle is embossed with the Dietz information, and a 3 which I believe designated it as a model 3. From what I have found they are from the 1800s-early 1900s. The interior wick is no longer present, but the unit appears to be otherwise complete.
The twist-on bottom with the oil reservoir is present. It still twists on & off, and is not jammed. The inner twist-door to hide the light still functions as well with its lever control. It works better at opening than closing, but with some adjustments both should function fine. You can also twist the little top piece to close the inner door as well.
This is a great display piece for a man cave, garage, mini-museum, and more. A lovely piece of collector's decor as well for the home, office, etc. Please see photos for details, comes as-is.
