Antique Pair Ships Navigation Lights Sherwoods B'ham Port & Starboard Oil Lamps
A pair of antique Ships Copper & Brass Navigation Oil Lamps, mounted with decorative brass plaques marked Port & Starboard. Their wick winder buttons are marked SHERWOODS B'HAM, which date them to before 1904, when their trading name changed to Sherwood Isaacs & Son Ltd - see oldcopper.
They measure 8 5/8" or 22 cm high to the domed top and have a curved front, plus two flat sides, each measuring 4 1/2" or 11.5 cm long. They are also mounted with a have a brass swing handle and measure 10 or 25.5 cm at its top. They have age related patna to their copper doors with one missing part of its catch, which still closes securely and a soldered repair to a leak from one burner.
