This is a wonderful piece of history: a hand-blown oil lamp featuring a hand holding a torch. Note, some type of coating. Inside the hand/torch part of the lamp--there are a few areas where coating is missing.
The lamp--look closely at photos. The pontil on the underside of the base is open and rough, the lamp collar has dents and some of the threads are missing. The lamp requires a new lamp collar to properly hold a burner, but I have had no success in finding one. It appears to be a no. 1 but it is too small by a few mm's.
Collar is removable by wiggling up--it does not screw on but was pasted/glued in the past. Is a 1 interior hairline in the font stem--cannot be felt on the exterior. (See photos 6 and 8). I did perform an overnight leak test of the font with water, and no leaks were found.
Throughout glass as well as a few stains. Please view photos as they are part of description.
Never use force to remove any parts. While some parts are threaded, others use different latching mechanisms.
Ask someone knowledgeable if you have any difficulties taking lamp apart. I clean lamps to remove. I do not light these lamps or check a lamp's.
