Antique Manhattan Brass Co Nickel Student Oil Lamp Pat. 1879 With Cased Green Shade. This is a beautiful nickel plated brass early student oil lamp. Go back in time with this unconverted lamp. Lamp is completely adjustable in height by loosening and raising the center screw piece.
Create a dramatic look with it fully extended, or keep it close for optimal light for the workspace while you read or write. All burner parts are there. What an ambiance this creates. This will be the focal and talking point of any room. Nickel plating is in good overall condition.
The base and rod show signs of discoloration. Stand is adjustable by loosening knob and raising or lowering lamp arm up to the top ring handle.Top ring holder has some cuts in the steel. Font is in good shape. The non removable portion has some discoloration spots.
Removable font is in good shape. Bottom of font marked close the valve after filling. Spring fill stem still in working condition. Manhattan brass co NY burner. Marked around gallery with 3 patent dates. Old wick installed and functioning. Glass imperfection created a ring around the top of the glass about 1 from the top. 7 nickel gallery mounted shade ring.7 cased green glass shade. Bottom rim has some very minor chipping. Top rim is white and is folded over creating a lip.
Unique look I have not seen before. Lamp measures roughly 12 side to side. Lamp measures 21 tall in lowest posisition. This is to top of stand.
