The latest addition to the numerous motor car companies in Queensland is the Town and Country Motor Co. This company was quietly formed some months ago with the primary object of purchasing the motor car and coach building business of Walter M.

Trevethan, of Towoomnba, with the special view of acquiring the sole Queensland agency of the "Napier" motor car. In addition to securing Mr. Trevethan's business, the coach building branch of which has been established since 1863, the company is fortunate enough to have retained the services as manager of Mr. Trevethan, who, after experimenting with several English and Continental cars, made a special and successful business of the Napier agency.

The fact of having first class tradesmen in his coach Building business has been of great assistance, as he was in a position to build the bodies of the cars to suit any individual requirements. The gentlemen instrumental in forming this new company are all motor enthusiasts, and by a strange coincidence every director of the Town and Country Motor Co.

One of these gentlemen, Mr. Ramsay, of Oondooroo, Elderslie, and Harrow stations, has no fewer than 11 Napier cars in actual use, including two 45 h. 6-cylinder cars, which are now in Brisbane. While the company claims that the Napier is the car par excellence, it is cognisant of the fact that a cheaper car is also in demand. To meet this requirement it has had a series of tests made in England, resulting in the selection of the Star, manufactured at Wolverhampton, Englanda car which has already been successfully used in New Zealand, New South Wales, and Victoria.

At the temporary garage of the Town and Country Motor Company, Ltd. Situated at Albert and Adelaide streets, Brisbane, there are at present no fewer than 12 Napier cars which have travelled in the aggregate many thousands of miles over some of the roughest roads in Queensland, and it is claimed that not one of these has caused the slightest trouble to the drivers. In addition to the motor business, the company has also launched out into the best class of agricultural machinery, having acquired the sole Queensland agency for Hugh Victor McKay, of Sunshine, Victoria, whose lines are finding favour in Queensland. The Sunshine harvester is known not only in Australia, but in all countries where wheat is grown. The Sunrise and Sunray disc ploughs are establishing a reputation where ever used; the former finds favour among settlers on new country where timber, stones, and stumps have to be contended with. The Sunray is a special disc plough constructed for use on hard soil where cleared, and tbe Sunnie disc plough, which is built on the same lines as the Sunray, though much lighter in weight, is a beautiful plough for lighter soils. McKay also manufactures mouldboard ploughs of stump jump and set patterns, and the number of sales for these lines in the Southern States testify to their capabilities. The Sunlock mouldboard plough has been manufactured especially to meet the calling for a light mouldboard plough, and the widths of furrow can be easily adjusted by a special arrangement. The Sunflower set disc and the Sun turn stump jump disc cultivators form an important part of the lines now handled by this firm, and the good work done on the several farms on the Darling Downs and in the Western districts helps to keep up the world wide reputation of this particular line.

The Sun seed drill, in all sizes, for which there has been a phenomenal demand, can be obtained in disc or hoe patterns, and the discs and hoes are made interchangeable. The Town and Country Motor Co. Has the Queensland agency for the Ruston Proctor steam traction, and portable engines and portable and stationary oil engines, made in England, and the Albion binders and mowing machines manufactured by Messrs. McGregor, at Leigh, England, are also handled by the Town and Country Motor Co. The company had a splendid exhibit of engines and agricultural machinery at the Exhibition Grounds, and the manager of the agricultural machinery department Mr.

Bennetts will be pleased to give any information concerning this extensive agency. The company's Brisbane premises are situated at the comer of Albert and Adelaide streets, and the Downs branch for motor cars is Neil Street, Toowoomba, the machinery department being in Russell Street, Toowoomba.
