For your consideration is an antique victorian hanging counterbalance brass oil lamp with a handpainted slant shade. The shade has a handpainted floral pattern that is red and yellow with green leaves that wrap around most of the shade.
It is in good condition with no chips or cracks and both edges are fired. The brass is in good condition with no breaks in the metal but it does have dings in some areas. There are patent dates on 3 of the brass parts. They are on the canopy pulley sides, shade crown, and shade holder. It comes with a clear patterned glass font with a #2 collar and a fill port and cap. There is a #2 Banner burner that comes with a wick. On the bottom of the font there is a patent date and also a chip on the bottom edge. When the font sits in the brass holder it is secured with 2 screws but 1 is seized. The font does still get secured in place. The wooden wheels still move freely and the lamp chain moves as it should. It measures approximately 32 1/2 tall in the retracted position but when the bottom is pulled down to extend it completely it does not stay and wants to retract on its own. The shade is 5 1/2" tall and the top small opening is 6 1/8" in diameter. The bottom large opening is 14 in diameter. Please review and enhance the photos as they are part of the description.
