Antique French Brass PIGEON Safety Oil Kero Lamp 1890s

A highly decorative yet utilitarian lamp in all brass casing with lovely, copious text to both front panel and handle around the back. Lots of awards of merit and such and whilst in French I'm pretty sure it alludes to its safety in use, fill with alcohol? An interesting wool filled font and the wick housed in a wire like cage assembly to fit neatly into the font.

The wick is winding smoothly and all in excellent operational condition. A slight ding to the shoulder area however essentially excellent vintage condition. The lamp stands 18cm, weight 235 Grams.
