This massive early 1800's brass and crystal argand lamp was electrified in the 1960's-70's and retains original blown frosted cut to clear shade and has nice old prisms. Measuring 23" tall to the top of the shade; 17" tall to top of font; 11 5/8" to top of 4" shade holder, it is 12 1/2" deep overall with massive 6 1/2" polygonal base. The globe rings like a bell and is likely flint and measures 11 5/8" tall with 5" rolled top and 3 5/8 fitter base.
The polygonal column base has cast classical elements in the form of columns topped by flame and the removeable ring from which the prisms are suspended features two full round brass or bronze mourning doves. The globe is free of cracks and chips and there are scattered chips to the prisms which measure 9 1/2" and 7" alternating around the lamp. It bears the applied embossed tag of Brown and Rusher New York and has a loose solder joint at the burner and a sloppy solder repair at the arm.
