Up for sale is an antique brass kerosene oil lamp with an etched glass shade and glass chimney. It is a very unusual lamp with a brass barrel shaped cross piece to hold the oil below the burner. The wheel that adjusts the wick is stamped Scoville Mfg Co. The fitting that holds the wick is stamped New Way and the tines that secure the chimney are stamped Pat'd Jan 4,'16.
The lamp base does not have a maker's name on it. The shade is clear etched glass and the chimney is clear glass. The lamp has a beautiful patina but as I was polishing it, I realized that it was finished with a clear lacquer and can't be polished.
The foot of the base is brass plate. The remainder of the lamp appears to be solid brass. The lamp itself measures 10 1/2 high from the base to the fitting that holds the shade.
The entire lamp, including chimney and shade measures 18 high. There are several small dents in the brass. One is in the base and a couple are on each side of the oil barrel. I have shown them in the photos.
