ANTIQUE 1890s BEAUTIFUL AMETHYST GLASS PRINCESS FEATHER OIL LAMP COMPLETE NICE
Here's an original antique Princess Feather pattern kerosene oil lamp made in the 1890s.... Complete with all original hardware, including brass threaded collar, old tin burner, wick and old beaded top chimney. Although I havent used this lamp, it is completely functional and ready to use..... All you would need is some lamp fluid. Hand pressed in 4 part mold..... Square with highly decorated hollow footed base..... 9 1/2tall to threaded brass collar..... 18 1/2counting burner and chimney. Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage except 3 small shallow chips on very bottom.
Sparkling clean with no haze. Old brass looking burner is actually tin.... Excellent working condition with no damage. Turns the wick up and down smoothly.
Beaded "Pearl Top" chimney is also excellent with no chips or damage. This is one of the classic all time most decorated antique lamps from the Victorian Gilded Era of the 1890s.Princess Feather was one of the most popular styles of kerosene oil lamps and is often called a Parlor lamp or. Sewing lamp because they usually sat on a table in the parlor or used when women gathered around to make quilts and sew.

The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass, which was a decolorizer to turn the glass clear. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a boxand some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster.
To those "purists" who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years.
