1890s ANTIQUE PICKARD PATTERN AMETHYST GLASS OIL LAMP WITH 1883 DATED BURNER
Here's an antique original Pickard 8 1/2tall stand oil lamp over 120 years old with 1883 dated brass burner! This wonderful oil lamp is fully complete and in excellent working condition ready for use or display. It has Pickard pattern font with fancy floral pattern on underside of base..... 8 1/2"tall (17 1/2"counting burner & chimney)......... Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage.

Original brass clinch on collar is excellent with no splits or damage. Solid brass burner is emb PAT. Glass chimney is in excellent condition with no damage. This Pickard pattern lamp was popular in the early 1900 era.

It is a scarce lamp to find and guaranteed authentic antique over 110 years old. The very fact that it turned purple indicates this lamp was made before 1915. Although I've not used it, I'm sure it would work if you put some lamp fluid in it. IF YOU LIVE WITHIN THE U.

Unless you contact me first. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your business.... Your friendly fellow collector, Digger Dave Beeler. FRESH LISTINGS NEARLY EVERY DAY.

We stand proudly in support of our military men and women and their families. The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass, which was a decolorizer to turn the glass clear. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a boxand some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. To those "purists" who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years.
