1890 Antique Ditmar Tepliz Austria Art Nouveau Majolica Oil Kerosine Lamp Owls
Circa 1890's Austrian majolica oil lamp. Art Nouveau lamp with stylized owls body and floral ornaments on top part. Molded and hand painted, finished in iridescent glaze.
Featuring original chimney with markings. Marked Dirtmar Austria on wick knob. And also marked, hand painted with numerals/dated on inside under the fittings on bottom.
Mounted on solid cast bronze footed base decorated with art nouveau organic flower motif. Brass burner and fittings the lamp comes with long wick and inner glass kerosine container. The lamp is not signed but made with great attention to details and for me unmistakable master work of professional artist, Probably member of Wien er Werksttate studio. Very interesting and rare lamp in exceptional Viennese Secession design. Found at an estate sale in Vienna, not sure for its history other than it came from an estate of a world traveler and antiques collector. Excellent preseved no chips cracks or restoration. Just beautiful antique lamp rare find nowadays. Measures: 7'' diameter x 21.5'' h with the chimney. The lamp only 13.5'' h.
