1880s FLUTE & BLOCK PATTERN AMETHYST GLASS OIL LAMP COMPLETE WithBURNER & CHIMNEY

Excellent shiny nice condition with only a couple tiny nicks on base edge; no other damage. A nice clean lamp with no haze. Original brass threaded burner is real nice with no damage. 1 burner is in good working condition. It turns the wick up and down nice.

Clear glass chimney is perfect with no chips or damage. Although weve not used this lamp, I'm sure it would work fine if you put some lamp fluid in it.. After 50 years of digging and collecting we have decided to part with many of our bottles to make room for more.. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass.

Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a box.

And some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is often referred to as being "irradiated". There is however no trace of any radiation or anything harmful I guarantee..
