1880s ANTIQUE ZIPPER LOOP KEROSENE OIL LAMP AMETHYST GLASS COMPLETE REAL NICE

This is a wonderful amethyst glass antique Zipper Loop pattern kerosene oil lamp made in the 1880s.... Complete with brass collar, brass & tin Eagle burner, wick, and glass chimney..... Fully functional; all you need is some lamp oil...... 8to top of brass collar.... Lamp is in excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage.

A nice clean lamp with only some light residue in bottom.... Brass threaded collar is also excellent with no damage. Old brass & tin antique burner is emb EAGLE on side..... Excellent working condition with wick, which turns up and down nice. Glass chimney is excellent with no chips or damage.

I havent used this lamp, but it is in fully functional condition. All you need is some lamp fluid and you are ready for romantic nights or Victorian light if your power goes out. Hey, that could be a new advertising slogan for some company! IF YOU LIVE WITHIN THE U.

The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass, which was a decolorizer to turn the glass clear. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight.

Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a boxand some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. To those "purists" who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years.
