Jewel appears to be original. For your reference the Book Hanging Victorian Lamps of the Nineteenth Century Identification & Values written by Jeffery Ebersole in 2008 states The Ansonia Brass & Copper Company was originally located in Derby, Connecticut, and later established its business operations in Ansonia, Connecticut.
It is believed that Ansonia began its kerosene lamp manufacturing around 1865, but this lighting business never reached the heights of distribution or notoriety of such manufacturers as Bradley & Hubbard, Edward Miller, or Charles Parker. This is the reason these lamps are highly valued collector's items because fewer of these were made. This Lamp is out of a VERY HIGH END collectors estate and without any doubt one of THE BEST OF THE BEST!
