This sale is for an antique oil lamp c. 1878 in very good condition. The colors and images on our lamps are shown in the photos. Our lamps are genuine antiques. We simply restore their original beauty where we can. We got this lamp years ago and it is in the same condition that it was back then, albeit a little cleaner! The Center Draft tank has no cracks or splits, not even a ding and the riser works smoothly.
The burner has no issues with all the chimney prongs being tight and not even a hint of any splits in the screens and it is holding a brass 4 shade ring for you. It has been electrified without any drilling of holes anywhere. The standard sized bulb socket has replaced the flame spreader and is secured to the tank through the wick tube. Just remove one nut and add a wick, oil, and a flame spreader and "Viola" she's an oil lamp again! The tank cover is copper plated brass and the copper is beginning to wear thin from over 140 years of polishing and it has some dings but not the "in your face" kind It's still very solid and stands true at almost 20 tall to the bulb socket. The base is a'four-toed' base with a 10 spread. Depending on the bulb wattage you select. I use a 60-watt bulb that covers any need in my lamps NOTE: BULB NOT INCLUDED! It brings with it a sort of a rich, old royalty statement into any room as an entry lamp, a table lamp, a vanity lamp, or even a desk lamp! With the adjustable brightness, it will look great where ever you place it. Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. We have been criticized for restoring our many types and styles of antique oil lamps with being told it devalues them. Well, let me say this... It isn't the value we are after so much as it is trying to allow our future generations the opportunity to see, first hand, just what these lamps looked like way back in the day when our grandfathers and great grandfathers were our age. Preserving these antiques restores the emotional value for our future generations.
How much is that worth? By leaving them, as those who condemned our practices would prefer, to decay. And they do, believe me then quite a few wouldn't last beyond this generation.
I challenge their morals for being so selfish as to deny our future generations of such an opportunity for the purpose of profiting while the getting's good. Just for spite, we reduced our prices so much so that anyone can afford a quality piece of history for their kids or grand-kids or even the neighbor's kids down the block! END OF MY MOMENT, SORRY BUT I...
