Antique Hanging Oil Lamp Adjustable Rise & Fall Mechanism Lyre Shaped Details
A antique hanging Oil Lamp in a decorative lamp and shade holder, made of cast metal with a copper patina. It has a Rise and Fall mechanism, which uses a pineapple shaped counter balance weight, connected by three rods and decorative lyre shaped plates to three chains, which run over rollers, built into its cast metal ceiling hook. The lamps copper font sits in a 14 cm wide holder and has been converted to electricity, using a bayonet type bulb holder. It has a clear glass chimney and a Student style Opaline glass shade, measuring 32.5 cm wide x 207 mm high. It has a maximum drop length, measuring 57" or 145 cm long, which can be adjusted up to a minimum drop of 44 1/2" or 113 cm long.
It dates to the late Victorian period and is in a good used condition, as shown in photo's.
